El hijo de David Bowie, el cineasta Duncan Jones, ha hecho uso de Twitter para expresar cómo sería -para él- el biopic perfecto sobre su padre. Y está de suerte, porque los involucrados han dado el sí.

Jones (‘Warcraft: El Origen’, ‘Moon’) admitió que no tenía intención de crear la película por sí mismo, y en su lugar solo daría su bendición si el escritor Neil Gaiman y el cineasta Peter Ramsey aunaban fuerzas para llevar la vida de Bowie al celuloide.

Ramsey, uno de los directores de la elogiada ‘Spiderman: un nuevo universo’, contestó al mensaje de Duncan: «Oye, sin presión … ¿Neil …?«, a lo que el escritor contestó que está dentro.

Así que Twitter ha hablado. «Está ya tuiteado» como confirmaba el hijo del cantante. ¿Marchando el nuevo biopic?

MOON was very well received by film critics in attendance, here’s a sample of those first reactions. “Not only does it look wonderful, but Sam Rockwell is flawless yet again.” – Alex Billington – First Showing “Moon is yet another impressive work of independent science fiction. In which we have a young director with an ambitious vision, a perfectly cast lead and the creativity to bring it to life without having to work on a Michael Bay-sized budget.” – Neil Miller – Film School Rejects “I’m convinced that Moon is at the beginning of a new renaissance of indie sci-fi feature films which will challenge Hollywood’s big budget computer generated spectacles.” – Peter Sciretta – Film MOON continued to garner high praise from the film community and wider film going audiences around the World, but none more so than from one of Duncan’s Directorial heroes, Terry Gilliam, during a Little White Lies interview published in April 2011 “I think MOON is a really brilliant example of contemporary Sci-fi because it has a message, it has strong visuals but it also has a proper science-fiction core. It’s the closest thing to a modern-day 2001 I have seen.” This day though, this was the day that MOON received its premiere. Bowie, quien falleció en 2016 después de una lucha contra el cáncer, dejó atrás un legado de 40 años de clásicos musicales, películas e incluso teatro.

50,000 EXTRA TICKETS FOR LAZARUS IN AMSTERDAM – Amsterdam, 3rd June 2019 @lazarus_nl – THE RUN OF BOWIE’S ‘LAST MASTERPIECE’ HAS BEEN EXTENDED THANKS TO OVERWHELMING INTEREST – With more than four months to go until the Lazarus premiere, the David Bowie musical has sold more than 50.000 tickets. Due to the enormous demand for tickets, Stage Entertainment Nederland and the DeLaMar Theatre have decided to extend the show run. There are now 50.000 extra tickets available, which are on sale now via Eventim.nl (http://smarturl.it/LazarusNLtix). Lazarus is the last work David Bowie created before he died, together with director Ivo van Hove. After playing in New York and London, the original production is coming to Amsterdam in the Autumn for an exclusive period in the DeLaMar Theatre. It was announced in December that Gijs Naber will be taking on the role of Newton. The rest of the cast will be announced soon. Albert Verlinde: managing director and producer of Stage Entertainment Nederland: “David Bowie is, and continues to be a phenomenon. I was intrigued as to whether the Dutch public would embrace the production; I could never have foreseen that the reaction would be so overwhelmingly positive. Su último trabajo, ‘Lazarus’, se convirtió en una obra de teatro protagonizada por Michael C Hall, y se inspiraba en ‘The Man Who Came From Stars»‘. Desde su fallecimiento, las ideas de llevar a cabo una película sobre su vida han sido constantes pero Duncan ha rechazado los intentos anteriores, incluido el que involucra a Johnny Flynn en el papel principal. 

¿De ‘Rocketman’ a ‘Starman’?

Parece que todos quieren al cantante de ‘Heroes’. Ahora se suman las ganas de Matthew Vaughn, productor de ‘Rocketman’, de querer llevar la vida de Bowie a película. Tras el éxito de ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, Paramount lanzaba este año el biopic basado en Elton John, al que da vida Taron Egerton.

Con 10 días en taquilla, la película lleva recaudados 100 millones de euros en la taquilla. Difícilmente se acercará a los resultados de ‘Bohemian’, que ganó 903 millones en los cines.

Parece que es momento para el biopic musical, y el Duque Blanco tiene papeletas para ser la próxima figura del rock en merecer una película dedicada a su figura. De hecho ya hay en marcha el proyecto antes mencionado, ‘Stardust’, que repasará los primeros años del músico, antes de ser una super estrella. 

Hablando en exclusiva para Screen Rant, Vaughn reveló que su sueño es hacer una película sobre el legendario cantante «Si me permitieran dirigir una película sobre David Bowie sería mi sueño hecho realidad. Es Bowie. Su música es insuperable. No, igual a la de Elton«. A Vaughn le choca el enfoque no musical que pretender dar Stardust «Hacer una película sobre Bowie sin la música me suena estúpida, pero tal vez solo sea un poco cínico«, declaraba.

Además de las declaraciones de Duncan Jones y de las del productor se suman las voces de muchos fans, que ya tienen opción para dar vida al cantante: Tilda Swinton.

Bowie es sin duda una figura lo suficientemente fascinante y misteriosa como para justificar el tratamiento en la pantalla grande, por lo que quizás algún día obtenga su propio ‘Rocketman o Bohemian Rhapsody.

Por otra parte, hay muchos que argumentan que Bowie es una figura tan grandiosa y controvertida que es muy difícil de abordar en una película biográfica convencional hecha simplemente por un efecto nostálgico.
